How We Grow

The past three weeks at Church have been, in my own thoughts, the beginning of spiritual growth both personally and in my personal relationship with God.  Changing an aspect in ones life can seem to be one of the most challenging feats that one may come across to.  Many times people find it too difficult a road to walk on, when trying to change, and because it seems so difficult people seem to try and get off right at the first off ramp.
Change doesn't happen over night.  You cant just say your going to stop smoking, stop drinking alcohol, stop pornography, stop being self centered and so on.  Change is a daily battle.  Its a battle that we can not win our own.  We need help, we need Gods help.  What many people don't  know is that God gives us all the necessary tools to accomplish such goals., we just have to put them into action.  I for one have fallen many times, but I will surely keep on traveling down the road that leads me to change.  We can always improve.

2 Peter 1:3-9
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  Through these he has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.  For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

James, I love to read your posts--you give a mini sermon which is really needed in our lives today. I ask you and all who read this to remember our nation as we choose a new president. This may seem insignificant--but prayer does matter.
